P1961 – Trustful Check Throttle Position Sensor (Main) MMC Colt

FUNCTION

  • Compare the actual inlet manifold pressure through manifold absolute pressure sensor with the assumed inlet manifold pressure through the throttle position sensor (main) signal.

  • TROUBLE JUDGMENT

  • Ignition switch is “ON” position.
  • Manifold absolute pressure sensor is normal.
  • The difference between the actual and the assumed inlet manifold pressure through the throttle position sensor (main) is 27 kPa or more.

  • PROBABLE CAUSES

  • Failed throttle position sensor (main)
  • Damaged throttle position sensor circuit (main)
  • Air drawn in from gaps in gasket, seals, etc.
  • Failed engine-ECU

  • DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

    STEP 1. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code

    Q. Diagnosis code set?

    STEP 2. M.U.T.-III data list

  • Item No. 13: Throttle position sensor (main)
  • Q. Is the check results normal?

STEP 3. Check for intake of air from gaps in gasket, seals, etc.

    Q. Is the check result normal?
