P0833 – Clutch Switch (B) System Vehicles with AS&G system MMC Colt

OPERATION

  • The battery voltage is applied to the clutch switch (B) (terminal No. 1) from the ignition switch (terminal No. 2).
  • The ON/OFF signal is inputted to the engine-ECU (terminal No. 101) from the clutch switch (B) output terminal (terminal No. 6).

  • FUNCTION

  • Detect the clutch pedal status, which must be input into the engine-ECU. When the clutch pedal is fully depressed, the clutch switch (B) is turned ON. This allows the engine-ECU to detect the clutch pedal is fully depressed.

  • TROUBLE JUDGMENT

  • Ignition switch is in “ON” position.
  • Although the driving is more than 30 km/h during the previous driving, the OFF signal of the clutch switch (B) is not output even once.

  • PROBABLE CAUSES

  • Failed clutch switch (B)
  • Shorted clutch switch (B) circuit, or connector damage
  • Failed engine-ECU

  • DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

    STEP 1. M.U.T.-III data list

  • Item No. 154: Clutch switch (B)
  • Q. Is the check result normal?

STEP 2. Connector check: B-28 clutch switch (B) connector

    Q. Is the check result normal?

STEP 3. Check clutch switch (B) itself

    Q. Is the check result normal?

    STEP 4. Connector check: A-09 engine-ECU connector

    Q. Is the check result normal?

STEP 5. Perform voltage measurement at A-09 engine-ECU connector.

  • Disconnect connector, and measure at harness side.
  • Ignition switch: ON
  • Voltage between terminal No. 101 and earth.
  • Q. Is the check result normal?

  • Check output line for open/short circuit.
  • STEP 6. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code

  • Reconfirmation of diagnosis code.
  • Q. Is the diagnosis code set?
