DTC P2100 – ThrottleValve Control Servo Circuit (open) MMC Colt

OPERATION

  • Controls the current that is applied from the engine-ECU (terminals No. 7, No. 22) to the electronically controlled throttle valve (terminals No. 1, No. 2).

  • FUNCTION

  • Engine-ECU varies the direction and the amperage of the current that is applied to the throttle valve control servo in order to control the opening of the throttle valve.

  • TROUBLE JUDGMENT

  • 500 ms have elapsed since the ignition switch was turned to “ON” position.
  • The power supply voltage of the throttle control servo is more than 6 V.
  • Battery positive voltage is more than 8.3 V.
  • The deviation between the target output voltage and the actual output voltage of the throttle position sensor is more than 0.1 V.
  • The actual opened degree of the throttle valve is close to the middle opened degree of the throttle valve.

  • PROBABLE CAUSES

  • Failed throttle valve control servo.
  • Open or shorted throttle valve control servo circuit, harness damage, or connector damage.
  • Failed engine-ECU

  • DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. Connector check: A-118 electronic-controlled throttle valve connector

    Q. Is the check result normal?

STEP 2. Perform resistance measurement at A-118 electronic-controlled throttle valve connector.

  • Disconnect connector, and measure at electronic-controlled throttle valve side.
  • Resistance between terminal No. 1 and No. 2.
  • Q. Is the check result normal?

    STEP 3. Connector check: A-09 engine-ECU connector

    Q. Is the check result normal?

STEP 4. Perform resistance measurement at A-09 engine-ECU connector.

  • Disconnect connector and measure at harness side.
  • Resistance between terminal No. 93 and earth or terminal No. 108 and earth.
  • Q. Is the check result normal?

    STEP 5. Connector check: A-08 engine-ECU connector

    Q. Is the check result normal?

STEP 6. Check harness between A-118 (terminal No. 1) electronic-controlled throttle valve connector and A-08 (terminal No. 7) engine-ECU connector.

  • Check output line for open/short circuit and damage.
  • Q. Is the check result normal?

STEP 7. Check harness between A-118 (terminal No. 2) electronic-controlled throttle valve connector and A-08 (terminal No. 22) engine-ECU connector.

  • Check output line for open/short circuit and damage.
  • Q. Is the check result normal?

    STEP 8. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code.

  • Reconfirmation of diagnosis code.
  • Q. Is the diagnosis code set?
