P0830 – Clutch Switch (A) System Vehicles with AS&G system MMC Colt

OPERATION

  • The battery voltage is applied to the clutch switch (A) (terminal No. 1) from the ignition switch (terminal No. 2).
  • The ON/OFF signal is inputted to the engine-ECU (terminal No. 113) from the clutch switch (A) output terminal (terminal No. 6).

  • FUNCTION

  • Detect the clutch pedal status, which must be input into the engine-ECU. When the clutch pedal is depressed, the clutch switch (A) is turned OFF. This allows the engine-ECU to detect the clutch pedal is depressed.

  • TROUBLE JUDGMENT

  • Ignition switch is in “ON” position.
  • Although the driving is more than 30 km/h during the previous driving, the ON/OFF signal of the clutch switch (A) is not changed even once.

  • PROBABLE CAUSES

  • Failed clutch switch (A)
  • Open or shorted clutch switch (A) circuit, harness damage, or connector damage
  • Failed engine-ECU

  • DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

    STEP 1. M.U.T.-III data list

  • Item 153: Clutch switch (A)
  • Q. Is the check result normal?

STEP 2. Connector check: B-22 clutch switch (A) connector

    Q. Is the check result normal?

STEP 3. Check clutch switch (A) itself

    Q. Is the check result normal?

STEP 4. Perform voltage measurement at B-22 clutch switch (A) connector.

  • Disconnect connector, and measure at harness side.
  • Ignition switch: ON
  • Voltage between terminal No. 1 and earth.
  • Q. Is the check result normal?

STEP 5. Connector check: B-240 ignition switch connector

    Q. Is the check result normal?

  • Check power supply line for open/short circuit.
  • STEP 6. Connector check: A-09 engine-ECU connector

    Q. Is the check result normal?

STEP 7. Perform voltage measurement at A-09 engine-ECU connector.

  • Disconnect connector, and measure at harness side.
  • Ignition switch: ON
  • Voltage between terminal No. 113 and earth.
